Hey! Ik zou willen dat de zomervakantie eeuwig duurde. De feestjes, de zon en het koekjes bakken wanneer ik maar wil vind ik super. Anyway, gave top hè? Ik heb 'm al voor mijn verjaardag (december :) en kwam er nu eindelijk aan toe het te dragen. Dit rokje heb ik herontdekt. Ik heb het al in de eerste klas gekocht (yup, 5 jaar geleden).

Hey! I wish it could me summerholidays forever. I'm really enjoying the parties, the sun and baking cookies whenever I want to. Anyway, isn't this top pretty cool? I got it for my bday (december) and finally came around to wearing it. I rediscoverd this skirt, which I bought in first grade (yup, 5 years ago).

Tip & question: iced cappuccino

Tip: Iced cappuccino bij La Place (yup, again xd). Het smaakt net zo yummy als het eruit ziet. Zeker een goede stop voor tijdens het shoppen!
Vraag: Heeft er iemand misschien een goed recept voor iced cappuccino? Ik zou het zo graag een keer zelf willen maken!

Getting closer

Ik heb deze foto genomen tijdens de eerste wandeling die we in Frankrijk maakten, in de Jura. Het was een hele mooie die we ook al vijf jaar geleden hebben gemaakt, langs een rivier. Ik vind wandelingen met veel water altijd er gaaf, omdat water nooit saai is. Daarom zal ik jullie binnenkort nog veel waterfoto's laten zien! Voor nu deze mooie close-up. De laatste paar keer dat ik deze foto aan iemand liet zien, keken ze een beetje verward en vroegen wat het was. Weet jij het?

I took this picture on the first hike we did in France, in the Jura. It was a lovely one we already did five years ago, along a river. I always like hikes with a lot of water, 'cause water is never boring. That's why I soon will show you a lot of waterpictures! For now, this beautiful close-up. The last few times that I showed it to someone, they looked a bit confused and asked what it was. Do you know it? 

Underwater

Waarom zou je foto's naast het zwembad maken als je ze ook in het zwembad kan maken?

Why take pictures next to the pool if you can take them in the pool? 

Ik kreeg deze fantastische onderwaterhoes voor mijn camera als een verjaardagscadeautje. Dankjewel Donja! Ik vond het super om onderwater foto's te maken in een Frans zwembad. Het zorgde misschien voor wat gekke gezichten van andere zwemmers hihi, maar ik vind het resultaat echt gaaf. Wat vind jij ervan?

I got this amazing underwatercover for my camera as a birthdaygift. Thanks to Donja for that! I loved to take pictures underwater in a French pool. It maybe caused some dumb faces from other swimmers hihi, but I like the results. What do you think?

Weekend tip: breakfast at La Place

Goeiemorgen! Als je nog steeds zomervakantie, of gewoon een lekker lui weekend hebt, is dit de perfecte start van je dag. Vandaag besloot ik om mijn alledaagse boterhammen te skippen en naar de stad te fietsen. Bij La Place kun je dit heerlijke ontbijt tot 11.30 kopen. Je betaalt maar 2,50 (normaal 3,95) voor dit fantastische ontbijt. Je krijgt een glas verse sinaasappelsap, een kopje koffie en kan dan vijf dingen van het buffet kiezen. Ik koos muesli, vers fruit, een chocoladecakeje, een omelet en een Franse chocolade croissant. Dit is zeker een aanrader, het was superlekker!

PS. Je kunt op heel veel plekken een La Place vinden. Vaak bij een V&D, maar ook bijvoorbeeld in winkelcentra. Check hier de locaties.

Good morning! If you're still having summerholidays, or just having a lazy weekend, this is the perfect start of your day. Today I decided to skip my everyday sandwiches at home and cycle downtown. You can have this lovely breakfast until 11.30 at La Place. You pay only 2,50 (normally 3,95) euro for this fantastic breakfast. You get a glass of delicious fresh orange juice, a cup of coffee and can choose five things from the buffet. I chose muesli, fresh fruit, a little chocolate cake, omelet and a French chocolate croissant. I certainly recommend this, it tasted amazing!

Hey! Nope, ik ben niet plotseling opgelost. Nope, ik ben niet gekidnapt naar de onderwereld. Ik ben veel in het buitenland geweest. Ik ben net terug van twee fantastische weken in Frankrijk. Daarvoor heb ik iets anders bijzonders meegemaakt in een ander land. Daar vertel ik later iets over. In mijn komende posts laat ik jullie wat foto's van Frankrijk zien, mijn favoriete land!

Hey! Nope, I haven't vanished into thin air. Nope, I haven't been kidnapped to the underworld. I just have been travelling a lot. I'm just back from two amazing weeks in France. Before that, I had another great experience in another country, about which I'll tell you later. In my next posts I'll show you a few pics of France, my favourite country!

Tip: cappuccino with cinnamon

Toen ik in Newcastle was, hadden mam en ik heerlijke Cinnamon Swirls gekocht. Terwijl we op een bankje gingen zitten, kwam er een mevrouw van Starbucks bekertjes kaneelkoffie uitdelen. Wat een mazzel! Waarom zou ik niet zelf een lepeltje kaneel toevoegen aan mijn koffie? Yummy!

PS. Weet jij nog een lekker koffierecept?

When I was in Newcastle, mam and I had bought deliciious Cinnamon Swirls. When we were just about to sit on a bench, a Starbucks lady came to hand out cups of cinnomon coffee. What a luck! Why wouldn't I add a small spoon of cinnamon to my coffee myself? Yummy!

Mzungu!

Dit is een van mijn favoriete foto's die ik gemaakt heb in Oeganda. Op de dag voordat we vertrokken, ging ik met een deel van de crew naar prachtige watervallen. We gingen even ontspannen van alle heftige dingen die we die week hadden meegemaakt. Onderweg reden we langs verschillende dorpjes. Iedere keer als we langs een huisje reden, gingen gelijk alle kindjes zwaaien en hoorden we "Mzungu! Mzungu!". Mzungu is van oorsprong het woord uit het Swahili voor iemand die rondloopt zonder doel of iemand die constant onderweg is. In Centraal, Oost en Zuid Afrika wordt dit woord nu gebruikt om alle blanke mensen aan te duiden. Het is helemaal niet negatief, meestal zijn de kinderen heel blij om je te zien! 

PS. Zouden jullie meer foto's van Oeganda willen zien?

This is one of my favourtite pictures I made in Uganda. On the day before we left, I went with a part of the crew to some gorgeous waterfalls. We just wanted to relax a bit after seeing so much heavy things that week. While driving, we passed several small towns. Every time we passed a small house, all the kids started to wave and yell "Mzungu! Mzungu!". Mzungu is a word in Swahili for someone who walks without purpose or someone who is constantely on the move.  In Centre, East and Southern Africa the word is now used to describe white people. It's not negative at all, mostly the kids are really happy to see you!

Op het moment ben ik ziek thuis, dus ik heb een heleboel tijd. Ik heb voornamelijk veel schoolwerk om te doen, want volgende week is mijn toetsweek. Anyway, ik heb ik ook veel gelezen. Ik lees nu The Night Circus van Erin Morgenstern. Het is simpelweg een fantastisch en magisch boek. Ik vind het super. Het is van die boeken waarvan je wenst dat er nooit een einde aan komt. Heeft een van jullie het misschien gelezen?

PS. Nee ik deal niet, I just like candy.

At the moment, I'm ill at home, so I've got lots of time. I have to do schoolwork mostly, because there's a testweek coming up. Anyway, I'm also reading a lot. I'm reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. It's simply an amazing and magical book. I love it. It's one of those books which you wish would never end. Did any of you read it?

Hey! Misschien dacht je dat ik het bloggen op had gegeven, maar dat heb ik zeker niet. Ik had gewoon twee mega drukke weken. Eerst vloog ik naar Uganda met dance4life, zoals je misschien hier hebt gelezen. Na twee nachtjes thuis, vertrok ik met school naar Griekenland voor een culturele trip. Het was een fantastische week. Voor alle verhalen, stay tuned. Vind je de lucht op deze foto trouwens niet prachtig? Meteen toen we 's avonds in Athene aankwamen, hebben we de stad verkend. Dit is een van de overgebleven zuilen van Zeus' tempel. Binnenkort meer foto's!

Hey! You might have thought I gave up blogging, but I didn't. I just had two freaking busy weeks. First of all, I travelled to Uganda with dance4life, as you might have read here. After two nights at home I left to Greece for a cultural trip with school. It was an awesome week. For all the stories, stay tuned. Anyway, don't you love the sky in this picture? As soon as we arrived in Athens in the evening, we started exploring the city. This is one of the remaining pillars of Zeus' temple. More pictures on my blog soon!

Stuck in the city

Ik was in de stad om de laatste dingetjes voor Oeganda te regelen. Toen ik terug naar huis wilde fietsen, ontdekte ik dat ik een lekke band had. Niet chill. Gelukkig had ik mijn camera bij me en was het lekker weer. Ik heb dus wat foto's gemaakt terwijl ik op mijn vader stond te wachten. Ik vind de stad, de grachten en de kleine bootjes echt mooi.

I was in town to fix the last things for Uganda. When I wanted to cycle home, I discovered I had a puncture. Not cool. Fortunately I had my camera with me and the weather was nice. So I took some pictures while I was waiting for my dad to pick me up. I really like the city, the canals and the small boats.

Vandaag voelt fantastisch. Zonder jas naar huis fietsen, vers gemaaid gras ruiken, vogels horen. Ik heb morgen een mega schoolexamen geschiedenis, maar ik ben vastbesloten te genieten van dit weer. Dus ik zit nu buiten in het zonnetje met boeken op schoot. En morgen is het al vakantie! Over precies een week zit ik in het vliegtuig naar Oeganda (klik hier voor het verhaal). Ik kan niet wachten :)

Today feels fantastic. Cycling home with a coat, smelling freshly mowed grass, hearing birds. Tomorrow I've got a huge history exam to take, but I decided to enjoy the weather. So at the moment I'm in the garden with my books in my lap. And tomorrow it's already holidays! In exactly a week I'm on a plane to Uganda. I cannot wait :)

Het leukste aan deze ketting is dat de pootjes en het kopje wiebelen als ik beweeg. Schattig, hè?

The best thing of this necklace is that its paws and head are wobbling when I move. Cute, isn't it?

From Above

Wanneer heb jij de mogelijkheid om een foto te maken van zwanen van bovenaf? Ik bijna iedere dag. Aan de voorkant van onze woonkamer zijn alleen maar ramen en een sloot erachter. Als mijn kat dan bij het raam zit, komen de zwanen naar haar kijken, maar Boefje vindt ze niet zó interessant. Anyway, het was een goed moment om nog wat meer te experimenteren met mijn nieuwe camera. Mooie zwanen, hè?

When do you have the oppurtunity to take a picture of swans from above? For me, it's almost every day. On one side of our living room, it's all windows and water behind it. Whenever my cat sit before those windows, the swans come and watch her, but Boefje doesn't think they're that interesting. Anyway, it was a good moment to experiment some more with my new camera. The swans are beautiful, don't you think?
